AOI (Automatic optical inspection)

The high quality requirements in electronics assembly call for automation in single spot soldering and Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI).

ATN and CORMEX have developed an AOI system optimized for this application, which can also be integrated into the ATN WinControl robot control system.

During development, great importance was attached to an intuitive user interface. The combination of multicolor LED illumination and high-resolution color camera enables a clear 3D evaluation for meniscus and short circuit inspection.

The standard housing with white incident light and red dark field illumination as well as the integrated LED driver for freely programmable adjustment of 8 LED segments enables uniform illumination of the working area - even with interfering contours.

The white incident light highlights the flat surfaces, the red dark field illumination the 3D menisci. In addition, the color inspection enables evaluation with regard to the pad surfaces (e.g. gold coating) and the board.
